Alphabet of Greenwich (T)

Friday, November 29th, 2013

Okay – you asked for it (well, actually one person did, and that’s good enough for me…) The glorious and continuing Alphabet of Greenwich, which is today brought to you by the letter T.

Someone suggested that we try to get to X for Christmas but I’d like to think I’ll be able to think of more festive stuff than that. On the other hand, I’m still trying to think of ways to follow last year’s advent calendar. The Phantom Webmaster aked me the other day if I had one since TPW had gone to all the trouble of creating the software – sadly I don’t just yet and I’m not sure I can face creating more of the same – that kewpie doll still haunts my nightmares – but if anyone has any bright ideas, just email ‘em over…

But back to the Ts.

You all know the drill.

Anything Greenwich beginning with T

Extra kudos for anyone who comes up with festive suggestions.

Actually as I’m typing this I realise there are dozens of Ts.

but I’ll leave most of them up to you. Lovely things beginning with T, please…

Alphabet of Greenwich (S)

Friday, September 20th, 2013

Stephen points out that we haven’t had an Alphabet of Greenwich since the May Bank Holiday so it’s about time we had another.

I guess all the ‘Saints’ churches count – or do they? How about all the ‘Schools of…’ and various Societies?

I don’t have photos of Sabo the newsagent, Squeeze or Straightsmouth But who needs that when you have a picture of the Straightsmouth Stink Pipe?

But over to you.

‘S’ should be a pretty easy one, shouldn’t it?

The floor is open…

Alphabet of Greenwich (R)

Friday, May 31st, 2013

Should be like shooting the proverbial fish in a barrel today, folks with the letter R as our theme.

I’ll set you off with a few ideas

but generally I think we’ll have no problem with this one>

So, from Rotunda to Royal Hill,

Railway arches to Royal Teas

Let’s be having your Royal Greenwich ‘Rs’…

Alphabet of Greenwich (Q)

Friday, May 24th, 2013

Tough on for the Bank Holiday weekend. Once you’ve gone through everything with ‘Queen’ in it:

it all gets a lot tougher. I guess there’s

And for that matter

but apart from that – well – it’s going to be a rainy weekend, apparently. Plenty of time for thinking caps to be donned…

Alphabet of Greenwich – I’ll Have a P, Please, Bob…

Friday, May 3rd, 2013

It’s bank holiday weekend so, I reckon time for another Alphabet letter.

Plenty of ‘P’s around.

Indeed, we seem to have a veritable plethora of Ps.

Plenty of Ps for all…

In fact so many

That I’ll leave the rest to you…

Alphabet of Greenwich (O)

Wednesday, April 10th, 2013

So today we reach ‘O’ in the Alphabet. Normally a quite hard letter, but there seems to be plenty of O’s around here.

So today things shouldn’t be too hard

Anything Greenwich

beginning with the letter ‘O’

I look foward to it…

Alphabet of Greenwich (N)

Thursday, March 7th, 2013

I’d totally forgotten this series – so it’s about time we had another letter. N for…

… well quite a lot of things, when you come to think about it.

So – you know the drill

anything Greenwich beginning with the letter ‘N’

Alphabet of Greenwich (M)

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

The letter M is an absolute gift in Greenwich. Virtually everything is Maritime, Meantime or Meridian.

So I’m hoping for lots of lovely Greenwich things…

…whether they be Maryon, Marketing or Museum

Morleys, Morden or Moores…

Mercers, Marias or McNabs

….beginning with this most popular of letters.

Alphabet of Greenwich – K

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012

Okay, Nick – here it is – you are free to let loose all those ideas you’ve been storing up as today’s post is brought to you by the letter K.

Of course it’s not just Nick who can fill in my many gaps in things beginning with the letter K in Greenwich – I’d like to hear YOUR suggestions.

I guess given the Royal connections there are going to be a lot of things beginning with the same word:

But there are loads of others

So now folks – it’s up to you…
