The Black Cat of the Observatory

We’ve had the spooky White Dog of Crooms Hill – Greenwich’s luckiest dog, now, meet the mysterious Lucky Black Cat of the Royal Observatory, as spotted by Stephen.

I don’t know his/her name – but what a handsome fellow, with the entirety of Greenwich Park to slink around and presumably a nice warm place by the fire in Flamsteed House (even if it’s never lit now, sigh…)

This is a cat that knows its world, has probably explored every single one of the tunnels under the park, poked around the conduit house, been inside the secret reservoir and slipped silently through the dells, flowers and heathers at the top – and yet still has places to go…

Looks to me like you’ve got yourself a children’s book / film / action figure franchise in the offing there ‘Phant!

  2. Erk – Perky the Observatory Cat and his jolly japes and scrapes with Fluffy the Crooms Hill dog. Yerk. But you’re probably right – there’s someone out there scribbling furiously already…

Not me, I hasten to add.

It can’t be Shrodinger’s Cat because, once you open the box, the cat ceases to exist.

  11. Benedict says:

But what if your whole existence is actually already in the box CB…answer me that?

Let me introduce “The Black Cat of the Observatory” known by Royal Observatory employees as Harrison. Harrison happens to be our deeply adored family cat Hamilton (the Park Row Panther) who on occasion likes nothing more than heading up the hill to far more regal premises for a sleep-over or two!
