A little harsh on Chay Blyth, RW. I think the single syllables give the name an incisiveness appropriate to an adventurer, like Dan Dare.

Fantastic picures. I also have a vague memory of going on board as well, but my dad isn't around any more to help verify that. It would have been a few years after this though.

I should probably wait till the next part of the story, but I remember my parents taking me to see the Gipsy Moth IV, at Greenwich, and - unless my memory is fooling me - we were actually able to go on board and walk through it.
I can still recall, as a kid, thinking that the name Francis Chichester had a good ring to it: can't say I ever thought the same way about Chay Blyth.

Another oddity captured by these wonderful pictures is the "Free Car Park" sign in the fifth photo. There is probably more chance of seeing the Gipsy Moth IV hauled though the streets of Greenwich again than there is of ever seeing one of these artefacts in our town centre again ;)
