Serious Accident on the Thames

Rod has just told me:

“There’s been a serious accident on the river just by Greenwich Pier – 4 or 5 ¬†fire engines, paramedics, emergency ambulances police, helicopters etc. I thought there had been an accident on the Cutty Sark site, but a fireman told my that a tug collided with a small boat, with three people in the water. As of about 30 minutes ago, two had been rescued but the third could not be found. That’s all I know…..”

Blimey. God, I hope he’s okay. We always tend to think the river is more benign that it really is…

a tragedy if the third person is lost, only a week after that young man lost his life in the accident with the Woolwich ferry.
The river is not always benign.

Helicopters were buzzing around for ages but all has now gone quiet. Heres hoping that means they’ve found the crewman save and well.
