Pirates of the Caribbean

Robert sent me this, so I’m jumping on the bandwagon and getting all excited even though (or perhaps because) we have had PoC overkill in the last few weeks – I mean how many tickets ARE there to the first night? Everyone on earth seems to be offering ‘Win a Ticket to the Premiere’ competitions just now (not that I object; I shall deffo be going to see it, if only to see what they do to Tim Powers’s novel, though I very much doubt I’ll be manifesting along the red carpet. Might help if I actually entered a couple of the comps).

At first sight it looks like it was all filmed in the Painted Hall, but I think that actually there’s very little Painted Hall in this clip – I think it’s Hampton Court – that bit where the Queen’s rooms are, along the Georgian flank that looks out over the gardens and the little stairwell that separates the Georgian bit with the Tudor areas – the one with the massive lantern, which, curiously, doesn’t appear in this sequence.

Sorry about the formatting. Being the least technical Phantom in the world I can’t work out how to keep it within the lines.

HIya Phantom, there’s a great piece on where/how they filmed it on the Film London website. Thought I’d post a link here for completeness’s sake. http://filmlondon.org.uk/news/2011/may/captain_jack_sparrow_lands_in_greenwich
