Don’t Fence Me In

I confess I forget who asked me about this fencing – I think it was Stephen, but I could be wrong. He wondered if it was anything to do with the Olympics, and, in a way it is. All is revealed on this notice attached to the railings around the Roman remains:

So far the improvement works seem to amount to re-seeding the grass around the area, though the bits of mosaic seem to be a bit more visible at the moment (though I still find myself blushing a bit when I show visitors the amazing Roman Temple in Greenwich Park and they say “Is that it?”:

Well, I say that any Roman remains is good Roman remains, and if the the powers that be are protecting them, then that’s fine by me…

    I asked about the large area near the bandstand which has that nylon mesh type fencing. I didn’t know about this latest one.
