I would pay to see the horses deal with that pond.
Uh oh.. Not the olympics, here come another 100 comments! :-)
Sorry - I only did it to see if the new video thing worked...
All this work for just one day?!
Well Phantom congrats on completing your own sort of techno show jumping course, I can see the video in glorious Greenwich Technicolour!
Err but just one thing, the legacy is.....one jump left behind for the childrens playground? huh?
Okay, so the "whole park" is going to be closed for "just one month", so how long are parts of the park going to be closed for?
Really, this is so horrible, I'm just going to leave town for six months. I can't stand watching.
How many other exisitng venues are going to be closed for the duration? How many other people in other areas will be prohibited from using their local amenity? While much was said, much was also unsaid. We wont use the pond, but we will use the flowerbed. No trees will be cut down, but will they be cut back? An ideal venue? Not according to those who ride, and wish to ride at the Olympics.
This video is so utterly shocking. It's almost like a rapist publically going over the details of the act he will commit in advance, but that the victim need not be too concerned because after the deed they'll be kind of back to normal again.
I couldn't feel any less intruded upon than if they were to run the bloody marathon through my front room and out into the garden.
"I couldn't feel any less intruded upon than if they were to run the bloody marathon through my front room and out into the garden."
Actually, I'd kind of prefer that..
We should demand sizeable improvements to the park as compensation, such as, more flowers, a real artificial lake where adults could row for leisure, another playground at the top of the hill, better cafes, a real restaurant, etc. You name it. The revenue from the Olympics will be high. Greenwich Park deserves a kind of reward or compensation for the use of its grounds.
