Old Kit...
A Phantom Regular, Capability Bowes, has a sticky problem. He borrowed an ancient Grundig audio tape dictaphone, but had to return it before he could transcribe the stuff he recorded. He's now stuck with over two hours of wonderful stuff he can't retrieve because technology has moved on...
He is looking for anyone who might have one of these (or a transcription machine for same) knocking around their attic that he could borrow just to transcribe his tapes. Despite several requests to both Greenwich and London freecycle, has had no joy.
I guess people just chuck out old technology - but maybe someone's got such a thing stuck away in a loft somewhere. If you can help him out, drop me a line and I'll pass you on to him...

It would help if he could be more specific about the model he used or maybe take a photo of the tape he needs transcribing from?
If you ask on ebay you might well strike lucky. We needed and got some rather recherche Betamax equipment - don't ask...
@ Max: As far as I know, all Grundig tapes are the same size. They're big clunky things almost double the size of the standard audio transcription tape. Whatever model the dictation machine was, the tapes will fit the Grundig transcriber (or, of course, another Grundig dictation machine which I could use to listen to the tapes again)
@ebspig - I thought of that. Unfortunately they're very few and far between on Ebay. There are quite a few NEW ones on there selling for the RRP of about £150 but thats waaaaay beyond my budget!
Maybe the library will have one? The sometimes have things like this kicking about the back rooms!
Not that anyone is holding their breath, but I managed to find a transcriber on Ebay. It cost me more than I was really prepared to pay but I hope I may be able to sell it on after I've used it.
thanks to everyone except Max who consistently ignored me when I emailed him several times.
