Faded Greenwich (3)

Trafalgar Road, SE10

Thanks to Dazza, we can still (just about) see the writing above a accommodation agency in Trafalgar Road, though exactly whose store this was, that sold Boots and Shoes, "Hardwearing Goods of Various Descriptions," "Hobnailed Goods" and "Clogs in Great Variety" is now a mystery. Perhaps there are some old photos that show this otherwise rather unexciting stretch of Trafalgar Road in busier times...

There seems to be a police operation at Hollymount Close and 87 Blackheath Hill. 24 hours police huards, chaps in white suits and yesterday at 6.30pm a tarpaulined (small, red) car taken away on a lorry. Who knows what is going on?

Talking of Faded Greenwich (not of police raids), the side of the old Barclays Bank building opposite Charlton Station shows not only the Barclays name, but the shadow of the London, Provincial and South Western Bank, which merged with Barclays in 1918.
