Nosey-Hole at the Cutty Sark

The door goes through to a teeny tiny shop with the usual tea towels, kiddies' t-shirts and a really rather nice-quality model of the ship at the astonishing price of £9.99 (British-made too...) and a big glass window, through which you can spy - well - not very much, as yet. The wraps are still firmly on, and all you can really do is spot intriguing movement from behind the tarps, but as the work goes on, and the sheeting comes off it will get more interesting.
As will Simon's own webcam, from which I pinched the above pic (hope you don't mind, Simon...) He lives in the flats opposite and has most generously set up a 24-hr camera so that we can watch proceedings without actually being there. At the moment it suffers from similar problems to the viewing window - those tarps are fairly impermeable to the naked eye, but as soon as they're off, it will be great.
A: There's a pigeon on the window sill.

Perhaps while we wait for the tarps to be removed they could do an Indian style silhouette puppet show with tales of the Sark's travels.
Err was there a link for Simons grey blob web cam thingy or am I just being my usual dense self?
Opps , sorry , just found it.
Just too excited me harties.
I love the idea of shadow puppets...
Simon's webcam is on the hyperlink that's probably in purple on your screen.
I have been waiting for someone to do this sort of thing. Thanks Simon, great idea, and I hope it will be till the grand unveiling next year.
It's a pity the people who are doing these sort of things don't realise the amount of interest there is in the old girl, even if she is covering her modesty at present. Just think of what it could do for visitors to the Information Centre if they had a live feed?? Mind you, I suppose 'The History Channel' have got the rights and don't want top share....YET!!!
I tell you what, that web cam link will come in handy for spotting those oiks that litter the place up of a Saturday night. Thats a bit boring though, I think I shall don some garish costumes and parade around the Paseo infront of the camera, juggling, on a unicycle, with fire and.......could be the start of my new career..........maybe?
Oh , another thought, I think I may use the webcam as a sort of LoFi skype. Just tell your freinds what time you will be there and wave for a minute, then they can wave back.... hold on a minute, I havnt quite figured this out, maybe a sort of Video Postcard thing....
Hello, sorry for going off topic here, but i am condsidering studying the london taxi knowledge suburb sector(which covers greenwich and several other local boroughs, would anyone know if the (cutty sark ornc or/and observatory or station ect)has a busy taxi rank, it takes around 2 years to compile all local points of interest before letting us lose in a taxi. Your local knowledge on this site is going to help me tremendously in the coming months, thanks.
The busiest rank I know of is at North Greenwich Station - they actively advertise for black cabbies there. Especially on cage-fighting night at the 02. Curiously, on those nights, my cab driver the other night told me, they have difficulty finding taxi drivers happy to work there...
I'm fighting a strong urge to go and cartwheel in front of the webcam!
Dont fight it, do it Wendy!
In my head I can cartwheel, in real life I fear it would look too pathetic!
Have you got a pogo stick?
No, I'm now thinking about tap dancing across. I will need a cane and top hat and then I'm away.
Make sure you wave wendy, otherwise it will be hard to distinguish you from all the other dancers! Have fun!
All I can see is the skateboarders....mind you it looks funny as they are in one shot but not the next.....
Now you see them, now you don't.....LOL
Thanks for answering phantom, knew about N Greenwich, just wondered with all the tourist stuff it might be busy in town too, have noticed the rank at cutty sark seems to be used as a tea break rank- ie empty cabs no driver, thanks again.
Thanks everyone, I was on holiday last week and it's good to see that the webcam managed not to break while I was away!
