Strange Thing

Jo's been busy snapping today and has sent me a real oddity. I have absolutely no idea what this is or why it's sprouted a white tarpaulin.

I dont think it's got anything to do with the early medieval tide mill that archaeologists have just discovered down there - it seems to be in the wrong place. It seems a bit large to be some police crime scene. Can anyone shed any light on this, er, shed?

I guess it's a floating dry dock. It's not unusual to see it moored up along the river somwhere near here.

Yes, it's the dry dock for the boat repair yard located at Piper's Warf which is next to the Lovell's Warf development.

At some stage I think it's going to be moved down river towards the O2 to enable the completion of the Lovell's site.

Up until the middle of last week the dry dock had the Monsoon Clipper, one of Thames Clippers' catermerans, in it being repainted.
