New Blogs
Curiously, the folks at the window-box company who offered the free box a few weeks ago (I'm still looking for suggestions for that one, btw) said much the same thing about their new blog Little Green Space for green-fingered types.
And finally, Franklin (and his shiny new avatar) was enjoying the conversation we were having about the election and its consequences so much that he's started a blog just to talk about Greenwich politics. Check him out at Greenwich Provocateur For those excited by the name I think I should perhaps let you down gently by saying I don't think he's intending to sell saucy undies.
The Phantom is feeling smugly parental this morning.
Good luck with the blogs, guys...

Now really, Phantom. Is there any better way to make a girl miss Greenwich than to bombard her with Greenwich and Blackheath-y goodness? Cruel, cruel Phantom.
But more seriously, thanks for posting these. I can almost pretend I'm back on Creek road, a mere five minute walk over the bridge into Greenwich, instead of staring at a building site, next to a traintrack, in much-less-cool Lewisham.
There is much to enjoy about Lewisham - you just have to seek it out a little. How about a blog of you own? How about The Lady of Lewisham? (we already have the Deptford Dame...)
It wouldn't necessarily be as much of a challenge as you might think...
Blimey! It looks like Greenwich and its environs has become Blogger Central! I hope the streets dont become deserted with just the faint sound of keyboards tapping away behind net curtains.
Hmmm......maybe I will start up the Greenwich Toad Fanciers Blog?
Thanks Phantom! By the way, the Little Green Space link isn't working. All the best, BB
Go for it Benedict! I'd be there, as long as you have a sub-section for Newt Fanciers (Hey, Ken's gotta do something with his time...)
And - to second Blackheath Bugle - thanks for the plugs Phantom!
Little Green Space should be working now. Thanks BB
@benedict -- I suspect we're pretty much already there on the keyboards-and-curtains front; we have three blogs spewing from this Greenwich household, even if none of them are actually about Greenwich...
Unfortunately, as much as I love following blogs, I have a bad track history keeping them updated. I'm not sure what I'd even write about. Local shootings (the shooting last week in which a nurse died happened on my street)? Whether you can ACTUALLY feed your family for a fiver?
I should probably do a little bit of research and find out of there's anything exciting in new cross, apart from the really arty, Goldsmith-y type shops leading up to the university.
Then again, at least it would get me out of the house and into what I'm told is lovely weather!
Henri - maybe you should try making a blog with a map based on crimes reported - I think there's a big call for that kind of blog, as the police don't supply that sort of info. And there's a hell of a lot going on in lewisham - probably more than Blackheath, to be hoest.. Just start with the market and move on from there!
@blackheath bugle: I was JUST watching a thing on TV about conspiracy theories (have switched over to ridiculously addictive property show of the week) and that thought did occur to me. I did some googling and there's a fair amount I could do with a crime-based blog. But I DO worry that I'd turn into one of those crazy, National Enquirer types.
Hmmm, watch this space, it's being given thought.
Between the Lady of Lewisham the Deptford Dame the Blackheath Bugle, The Greenwich Phantom, and who ever else I'm probably forgetting, the SE blog network would be vast. Someone could start an entire blog, mapping OUR blogs, and giving everyone a summary of the weeks best articl-
Ok, I'm stopping now. God. I need to get out of the house.
henri, heres an interesting map to give you some inspiration,(if thats the right word)

ahem - er - greenwichindustrialhistory.blogspot.com ??
We try to do our best.
@ henri
Another emigrant from Greenwich here, via Blackheath. I'm now in Lewisham, opposite a railway line and near a building site...
This blog brings back many happy memories of a Greenwich childhood and adolescence, so I'm looking forward to keeping in touch with Blackheath with the new one. Thanks for the heads-up Phantom.
I keep being told that Lewisham is up-and-coming, one day it might even come true.
GIHS - I didn't mention you here because I did a whole other post about your lovely new blog. But thanks for reminding us!
