All Quiet On The Stockwell Front

Sheila asks:

I've been trying to find the most up to date version of the Stockwell Street Development plans online, but can't find them anywhere. The information I've got is:

- Sidell Gibson Architects
- Capital & Counties Properties UK Ltd
- Revised application was submitted to Greenwich Council in April 2008

The Phantom's scratching a spectral head. I confess I haven't spent an awful lot of time on this - but I agree - it's all gone very quiet. Does anyone out there have any links for Sheila?

On another matter, I notice that the buildings along the outside of the market on the North side of King William Walk are all under scaffold. Have they actually started building this hotel? I thought it was still under "consultation..."

I may be wrong but I would imagine that there will be no developement on Stockwell Street for some time now. It is very difficult for property developers to fund any kind of new building at the moment. Perhaps a silver lining to the "credit crunch."

On King William Walk, I noticed that the only part of the terrace not covered in the scaffold was the part re-built post war which is due to be demolished for the hotel. This suggests to me that the scaffold is just for maintenance of the parts which will be retained.

I think this is the one:
http://onlineplanning.greenwich.gov.uk/acolnet/planningpages/AcolNetCGI.gov?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeResultDetail&TheSystemkey=39

Basically, if the link doesn't work above, then go to Greenwich Council planning pages and search by address "Stockwell Street" and it's the second one. According to this, no decision has been made...
