Thai Massage
"I have scoured the internet but can't find any practitioners doing traditional Thai massage in the Greenwich area. Greenwich Natural Health Centre on Royal Hill seem the most likely place, but they do not appear to offer Thai masage, which is the particular kind I am after. Do you know of anywhere?"
The Phantom has burned shoe leather on this one.
I confess I had to actually ask what made a Thai massage any different from other sorts of massage (getting a most interesting - and graphic - response from one friend - actions, everything...) Sounds like something worth trying at least once, but I can't see you managing to do it round here. I have been to all the usual alternative therapy-type suspects I could think of and drawn a blank. I've asked around, looked in complimentary-healthy-style leaflets and done an internet trawl. I've found several people saying they'd like to try one - but no one who actually does it. Maybe, just maybe, one of you knows.
In the meanwhile, I apologise in advance for whatever ads Google comes up with down the side of this post...

A friend of mine did a Thai massage course at the London Scool of Traditonal Massage (combined with the London School of Thai Massage), based in Bromley.
I know the Bromley centre offers treatments, but they may well know of somewhere/someone closer to Greenwich. Worth a try?

I love doing this blog. There's always someone who knows...
When I had one (in Thailand) I screamed and giggled in equal measure.
Blackheath Complementary Centre may provide them? http://www.healingpath.co.uk/
I did ask there and didn't get any joy - but it looks as though they have a new massage therapist starting so it may be worth checking back.
Its the one where they sometimes walk up and down your back- although that didn't happen to me at the Wat Pho Temple massage school in Bangkok a couple of weeks ago- although I'm sure it does you a power of good.
My shot to pieces runners legs have been sorted out by Vanbrugh Physiotherapy on a few occasions. They seem to me to be very good, without any strolls along the spine.
I had a fantastic deep tissue massage (which imho is better than thai massage) with clare at http://www.thebodyworkshop.org.uk/ in woolwich arsenal.
It's the best massage I've had outside Sweden (including thailand... :)
oh, and I tried Vanbrugh physiotherapy's sports massage as well. even though their physio is great, the massage was...nice.
In comparison to bodyworkshop, I'd go to bodyworkshop every time. And it's probably slightly cheaper as well.
Does Thai massage involve teeth in any way?
If so, they'll probably offer it at the "Dental Spa" opening soon on Prince of Orange Lane. ;-)
How about http://www.greenwichnaturalhealth.co.uk/
They do do deep tissue massage!
Deep tissue massage is very different to Thai massage and can be quite painful if you are having it for treatment reasons. I wouldn't recommend it for relaxation purposes!
Brilliant, thanks so much for the tips, will try the places suggested. You really cannot beat a good Thai massage, preferably at Wat Pho, but Bromley is a bit nearer!
If you can't find a decent thai massage then a deep tissue massage really is the next best (if not equal) thing. Lets face it Knit nurse you wouldn't be going for a thai if you wanted a relaxing massage!
