Filming at ORNC
I walked along a very breezy river front yesterday evening and there appears to be some rather fancy set designing going on in the grounds of the college. I was wondering if you or any of your Phantom phans out there knew what was going on?
The Phantom is happy to hand over to Simon:
Whilst on another walk today I couldn't help but notice that the NavalCollege was full of film trucks, lighting rigs and props (including anentire mobile stables in the car park). I asked the security guard onthe gate what was happening and he said that some scenes from The WolfMan (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0780653/) are being filmed there tonight.
The Phantom hopes these are one and the same - of course they could just be queuing up to use the Royal Naval College. What I really need is a mole in Greenwich Film Unit. Any offers?

same goes last night, filming going on at the top of the park, but failed to see any action! lots of men standing around drinking coffee! :)
Took a walk that way myself this evening and while ORNC has starred in that many films I have never seen a shoot to this scale. There seemed to be about 40 trunker and camper vans at the ONRC and then about another 20 up by the Observatory ... and yes, as has already been observed, lots and lots of techies drinking coffee!
No wonder movie credits go on for so long!!
Can you imagine that on a big movie like this they only shoot aout 3 or 4 minutes of film (if that) in a day?
Apparently The Wolfman has Sir Anthony Hopkins in a lead role......exciting!
I asked an Extra yesterday evening (on my way back from Ballast Quay, but that's another story!) and he said that the film is called Wolfman and it's starring Anthony Hopkins and Benito Del Torre (sp?)
although neither were there last night. The Extra I spoke to is to be a Gent - he certainly looked very smart - he gets his own dog, and he's working 14 hour days!
They were also filming by the Observatory too yesterday but he wasn't sure if it was to do with Wolfman or not.
Benicio Del Toro is playing the wolfman, Anthony Hopkins his father. Universal Studios will be here filming at the Old Royal Naval College for another couple of weeks, mostly at night. There are lots of equine extras which makes me prefer a car park full of stables to one full of cars.
