Water Polo

Alick rightly points out that sport is not among The Phantom's favourite activities:

I know it's a bit niche and probably not your thing (having read and enjoyed your blog for a while and searched for "sport" on it ;) ), but do you or your readers know of any water polo teams based near to Greenwich? I'm aware of teams that train in Waterloo, Croydon, and Sevenoaks, but was hoping to find one closer to home than that.

So. I've done a spot of research and Deptford's Wavelengths pool claims to do water polo, though I can't find anything at all about it. I know that there are quite a few of you that do sporty-type stuff - can anyone help out Alick?

I am afraid I dont know anyone into water polo, but you could try pedalo polo. Take yourself and your chums along to Greenwich Park nice and early rent out all the Pedalos at the recently refilled boating pond split yourselves into two teams, jumpers for goal posts, and voila! Instant water sport action!

What a great idea! We could start leagues and everything. You could have a toad as your mascot. It could be the new keep fit craze. Quick, Bendict - write a celebrity fitness book. I think there needs to be a special Choc-ice and Fanta diet programme to go with it.

To play pedalo polo properly each player must at all times be consuming either choc ice treats or a can of pop. Any unfinished comestables at the end will result in a reduction of points for the offending team. Similarly bonus points will be given for players eating/drinking above their quota.
Finally a game for all weight abilities!
