Odd things noted last night...

Just by-the-by.

Whilst out a-haunting last night, three odd things came to my attention:

1) If you stare at the Othello Steak House's neon sign as you're walking along on the other side of the road, the two lines seem to move in opposite directions.

2) There is an extra building in between the Painted Hall and The Chapel. It was dark so I couldn't get in to get a closer look, but it looks very 'classical.' A film set, perhaps? Will Nicholas Cage be bursting out of it today, whilst filming his latest blockbuster National Maritime Treasure?

3) The chickens in the Trafalgar Road Tesco are individually security-protected AND monitored by CCTV. Gulp.

Filming at the Old Royal Naval College Greenwich is for a movie called "The Duchess" (Keira Knightley/Ralph Fiennes)

HI Phantom,
just wanted to drop a line about a couple of things. MAry Mills, a councellor for Greenwich sends out a newsletter on a regular basis, which I will try nad forward to you if you have not seen it. It is a great piece of work and keeps me up to date with what is going on and what troubles the council is dreaming up for us residents ( if you do not get it drop her an email at marymillsmmmmm@aol.com and she will add you) - i though it might be a good thing to talk about on your blog. I am all for encourage community in our little part of the world.

< i also note from her last newsletter the old auction rooms have now applied to be turned into flats, little old east greenwich is definetely changing...>

Again great blog and I know a lot of locals that read this site religiously keep up the good work

Thanks CT - yes - I do get Mary Mills's newsletter - I always think it's quite funny that the other two councillors want to have their names included on it despite the fact that it's clearly all Mary's work. I even did a little blog about her some months ago - check her out in the archives!

Thanks for the nice comments!
