Clocktower at Greenwich Borough Hall/GDA
I was in the park yesterday looking out at the view and wondered for the hundredth time how good the view must be from the top of the clocktower at the GDA, and also what a great venue for a party it would be…

I am sure, deep in my deep and distant memory, I have met someone who has been up there at some point, but I'm not convinced it's open to the public. I agree it must be one hell of a view and there are clearly some offfices/a glazed area at the top, not to mention the roof itself. I checked to see if it will be open this weekend for London Open House Day (hope you're all going to take advantage, especially of the buildings that aren't usually open) but it doesn't seem to be on the map. More research is needed...
Has anyone ever been up there?

The windows at the top MUST be an observation point! I'd like to know more abou it - why is it there? what does it signify? how has it been used?
when it was built - as the Boroughs' ground breaking new town hall in 1939 - the tower was provided so that the people of Greenwich would be able to view the river.
That's nice. So what happened?
I guess it lost its access since it's been that business school...
Sad, really, there doesn't seem to be anything at all in that observation tower now.
Probably one of the ugliest buildings in London- but over time I have come to admire our Borough Hall.
I have often thought that the observation room would make a great office for the Chief Executive of Greenwich Council- a place to look out from over all she commands.
