The "Old" Auction Rooms?

Has something happened while I was away? What's going on? Am I panicking for no reason or is that little planning application tucked away in Mary Mills's newsletter cause for alarm?

There's hardly anything there - merely "Planning application for commercial use and flats on the site of the Old Auction Rooms, junction of Lassell Street and Old Woolwich Road"

Sorry? The OLD Auction Rooms? When did they stop just being "The Auction Rooms?" I was only there the week before last and there didn't seem to be any signs of closure? This place is one of my Phantom Favourite Haunts and I would be absoultely GUTTED to lose it.

I'm going to see what I can find out - but in the meanwhile can anyone say anything to relieve my rapidly rising blood pressure?

The 'Old Auction Rooms' actually refers to the building opposite the entrance to the current auction rooms, next door to the Stone Interiors site. Worry not dear Phantom, you have many Saturdays of failed bids to look forward to yet.

I have however objected to the plans for the Old Auction Rooms - it's quite a nice building, just needs a bit of cosmetic TLC to restore it. I really don't want another new development on my doorstep.

Phew, you got me worried there too! Went there today actually. Was very disappointed they no longer do bacon and sausage sarnies due to "licensing regulations". :(
