Man, I've been hearing that rumour for years now. I can't believe it finally happened. We're all just so lucky to live next to these dynamic new developments. (!)
You just know in fifteen years the government will be moaning about their hideousness. Shame they can never look forward.
Well - it all LOOKS like it's happening. Walking to Sainsbury's last night, I noticed that all the pumps were closed - then saw that there were no more signs - then the real giveaway was the guys loading all the stuff out of the shop into the van.
I guess whatever we get it won't be as low-rise as the garage, though I guess at least we're hardly losing an architectrual gem...
Great, so more housing and less and less useful shops. BTW the Polish Deli opens on Tuesday and the new internet cafe and estate agents to follow shortly, Yipeeee.
Fantastic. Another Estate Agents. Presumably to sell all the bloomin' luxury flats...
Polish Deli will be worth a try-out though...
And how long is that site going to remain derelict for?
It used to a school bus depot before it was a petrol station, so there could be some mucky old petrol tanks to clear out before anything goes up there.
Yeuch. I noticed they were moving giant concrete blocks onto the site yesterday.
I suspect that land is at such a premium these days that the developer can't wait to get going. At least I hope so. If we're going to get these new flats they should at least get on with it rather than let the site turn into a tip.
I only noticed that it was boarded up this week. We used to get our coal and logs from there so very disappointed it has closed, and that it will end up as flats.
Watch as the library disappears as well, Greenwich council have a lot to answer for!
I have hopes for the library. I believe it is a listed building. Albeit Grade II - which doesn't have as much sway as a Grade I but listed all the same.
